Wow, can you believe it September is over and we are quickly moving into October. Next week, on Tuesday, is our all school field trip to Burnham Orchards. Just a reminder the whole family is welcome to come. Also, we will not have school that day.

This week one our students, Grace,  left to visit family in China. This opened up a wonderful learning opportunity for our class. The students have been intrigued and want to learn more about the Chinese culture. They asked if we could take and imaginary trip to China. We did not know how far away China was, so we made hypothesis’s for how far away China is from Ohio and how long it would take to get there if we flew in a plane. We then used my iPad to research the distance . We learned that China is 7,190 miles away and that it would take 16 hours and 40 minutes to get there. The students also wrote a letter to Grace asking questions to learn more about China. We brainstormed what we would like to learn about China. The students decided that they would like to learn how to speak and write in Chinese, create Chinese pictures, and learn about songs and stories from China.

In science the students are learning about the different types of habitats in the world. They worked together in groups to draw a grassland, ocean, and desert habitat. We used books to research their assigned habitat. Their habitats were required to include a water source, animals, and vegetation.

As always please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.

Have a great weekend!
