Early Childhood Programs

Our popular, mixed-age preschool classes for three’s, four’s, and five’s stimulate young children’s intellectual curiosity and creativity. The play based curriculum is literacy rich and full of activities that recognize different developmental needs, learning styles, and interests.

Our curriculum is carefully crafted to provide a literate environment that helps children to develop skills in oral language and phonemic awareness, and includes small group opportunities for artistic expression, technology explorations, and science experiments. Positive expectations, encouragement, and approval help build self-esteem and foster a genuine love of learning.

Children enrolling in our program do not have to be potty trained, but need to be working toward this developmental milestone.

INDIVIDUALIZED SCHEDULING

Pembroke Kids offers individualized scheduling to families. You may choose to enroll your child for as few as 2, or as many as 10 sessions each week, in either the morning or afternoon. Various combinations are possible, but a minimum of 2 sessions per week is required, and must be scheduled on different days. Full days for older children require the permission of the Director. Though spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, we make every effort to accommodate your requests.

• PM Sessions: Monday – Friday: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
• All Day Sessions: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (includes lunch supervision)

Pre-K Afternoon at Pembroke is an added opportunity for kindergarten bound students in morning classes to experience a full day program in a small group setting. It serves as an enrichment program for our mixed age preschool. The class provides children with a foundation of social skills, pre-reading skills, mathematical thinking, perseverance and focus. This is accomplished through a balance of work time and playtime, although learning occurs in each. Pre-K is a 4-day afternoon class on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Children enrolling in Afternoon Pre-K must be age-eligible to enter kindergarten in their home school district the following year and they must attend all four sessions. It is recommended that Pre-K Afternoon students attend at least 2 morning mixed-age preschool sessions.

• Afternoon Sessions: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM (includes lunch)
• At least 2 Morning Sessions in our Mixed Age classrooms is recommended to be added to your child’s schedule

Pre-K Full Day at Pembroke is a unique opportunity for students to be in a small group setting for 4 full days. The curriculum for Full Day Pre-K is an extension of the developmental play-based curriculum of our mixed-age preschool with an added emphasis on kindergarten readiness.

Children enrolling in Full Day Pre-K must be age-eligible to enter kindergarten in their home school district the following year and they must attend all four full days (M-Th).

• Full Day Sessions: Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (includes lunch supervision)
• Optional AM & PM Sessions in mixed-age preschool may be added to your child’s schedule

This is a small, safe and nurturing class for young three year olds born between August 1^st. and December 31^st. Classes meet two days a week and are designed especially for the needs of your young three.

Our teachers provide a literacy rich environment that helps children to develop skills in oral language and phonemic awareness.

Children enrolling in our program do not have to be potty trained.

If you’re concerned about your toddler’s feelings of separation when starting school, we have a way to make mom and/or dad a part of the school experience during this special stage of development. Our shared school experience is offered through weekly classes for small groups of parents and toddlers to ease the transition to a preschool learning environment. This is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships with teachers and set the stage for a stress free adjustment to classroom routines and activities. Friday mornings for an hour and a half.
